It is with much regret that the AWSA has to inform the Winter Sports community, and in particular all personnel associated with Ex RUCKSACK, Biathlon and Nordic skiing, that owing to an increase in Omicron cases in Bavaria, the German Medical Authorities have advised that no further clearances will be issued for military exercises to enter Germany. As a result, we have no alternative other than to announce the cancellation of Ex RUCKSACK for 2022.
Rest assured the organising committee has been engaged regularly over recent weeks and days to salvage the Exercise, but the German Authorities were not able to guarantee the levels of medical support, were there to be an outbreak during our Championships. Furthermore, we have not been able to re-schedule the Exercise to later in the winter calendar owing to resort programming and snow condition issues.
It is understood that some smaller exercises may have been granted clearance to travel, so Ex Cons are advised to contact the GSO to ensure their clearances remain valid.
